Handmade fragrances from Brooklyn, NY.

Last year I started working on another project with two friends called Bergamot. Jason and Sid met while working in the technology department of a huge international fragrance company over ten years ago. Jason and I met at a rooftop BBQ. The three of us have always been enthusiastic about independent, small batch and boutique perfumery and talked a lot about how we could share this passion.

We  launched Bergamot officially this month. It’s the first ever try at home service for fragrance. My role is as the curator for the fragrances in our monthly collections and the e-commerce shop. Each month I come up with a theme (the first is Love At First Sight; October is Indian Summer) and subscribers receive three fragrances based around that theme. While I love making perfume through MCMC, I also love sharing all the wonderful perfumes I across by other artisans. Bergamot gives me a chance to share these hard to find under-the-radar scents.

We also have The Journal where we share the stories, recipes, and homes of our perfumers. For this month, I shared a Pear Clafoutis recipe.

Of course I’d love it if you signed up. And if you have any kinds of fragrances you’d be especially interested in trying (say from Spain, or tea rose, or unisex), let me know and I’ll do my best to find them!

Thanks to DailyCandy, Brooklyn Based, and Bourbon and Gloss for the early love.
